GROUND HOG DAY ?

Well It's been three days and I have stayed the same weight to the T 251.4. Have not moved one way or the other. I read in a magazine that your supposed to do 30 minutes of cardio a day i've only been doin 10 or 15. Am I wasting my time? Anyway work outs are goin good. We got some brand new equiment at the gym so kind of excited to use all the new toys.

Yeah, the new equipment's pretty nice. We really should be getting in there a bit earlier, but the whole "30 minutes of cardio" thing is for the days you don't lift. So, 2-3 days a week we should be getting in our 1/2 hour.

The 10-15 cardio we do on weight lifting days is purely to get the body flowing.

First of all: Don't believe everything you read in the magazines. 90% of success comes from just doing something, even if it's not the absolute perfect thing.

Second, no time spent exercising in any way is ever wasted time.

I usually warm up my strength training workouts with 5 minutes of cardio, then "cool down" with 10 or 15 minutes. Then on just cardio days I do 30-40 minutes.

Yeah, 10-15 minute workouts are not a waste of time. Obviously, you won't burn as many calories as a 30-45 minute workout, but whatever. You're moving, therefore you're burning cals!

BTW, Groundhog Day? Great movie! :)

Like everyone else said, time spent exercising is never a waste!!!

And don't worry too much about being stuck at your current weight... your body does lots of weird and frustrating things, but if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded!

Great job so far!!! Keep it up!

As everyone else said, any form of exercise is not a waste of time.

Your almost a third of your goal weight, in how long? I'd call that fast tracking. Whatever your doing, keep it up. It's working.

Achieving your goal weight is but one of the many benefits of your new lifestyle. The fit and trim body you're building will produce many benefits for you in years ahead. No bad knees, no backpain...the list goes on.

You're still a young man. The complications you're avoiding in the future are worth the effort. The immediate benefits are a bonus.

As a future Dad, you're going to need all the energy you can get!

Not to be the wet blanket, but I think whether or not you are wasting time depends on what you are doing for that 10-15 minutes. Depending on the intensity, you may just get your heart rate up to a point of fat burning by the time you quit. But you can maximize your time if 10-15 minutes is all you have by doing a high intensity interval workout. That having been said, something is DEFINITELY better than nothing, and obviously you are doing something right seeing as how you have lost 23 pounds.

LOL, to his defense, he's been in the gym at 6am every morning, straight to work, and getting home from work between 10 and 11pm. Insane schedule, I don't know how he does it.

Then, to add to that, his computer is the DEFINITION of ghetto - but I'm pretty sure he's getting a new one soon.

He's doing awesome.. now, if he can just get online to tell us about it.
